How to build a UGC portfolio brands can actually review

A strong UGC portfolio does not need volume. It needs a few pieces that make your production choices easy to read.

Choose a few pieces on purpose

Four to six samples are enough to start if each one has a reason to be there. A face-to-camera piece, a product demonstration, a voice-over or hands-only video and one clean vertical edit already show several different skills.

Spec work is useful. Label it as a sample rather than presenting it as a paid campaign.

Make the work visible, not just the aesthetic

A brand should be able to judge framing, light, sound, pacing and how naturally you handle a product. One technically clean 20-second video can say more than a long showreel built around transitions.

Give each sample just enough context

Name the format and what you did: concept, filming, voice-over, edit. If the piece is speculative, say so. Add your location, languages and a direct way to contact you; the portfolio should not make a brand search for the basics.
